[PREMIERE] Opiuo Delivers Gritty Remix Of Harts' “Peculiar”

Opiuo Harts Remix

We are excited to premiere a funky remix of Harts’ tune “Peculiar" by Opiuo, the talented New Zealander living in Australia. Singer-songwriter Harts has had huge success with his debut album Smoke Fire Hope Desire. Opiuo is coming off his recent remix of GRiZ’s tune “PS GFY” and his announcement as direct support for Pretty Lights’ Episodic Tour. Now he’s lent his talents for a groovy remix of Harts’ lead single from the album: “Peculiar.”

Opiuo keeps the original’s disco-like vibes while infusing his own style. He uses funky basslines in between gritty synth bass and distorted samples. Opiuo makes quick work of Harts’ vocals, both chopping them up and overlaying the chorus from the original. A distant synth arpeggio comes to the forefront for a bridge as the energy builds back up for a final upbeat breakdown and outro. Check out the remix below, keep an eye out for more from Opiuo and Harts, and enjoy!

GRiZ Drops Incredible ‘Good Will Continue’ Remix Album Ft. Opiuo, Barclay Crenshaw, Boogie T & More

griz good will continue

GRiZ’s exciting Good Will Continue remix album is finally here! A household name for future funk and overall electronic fans alike, this Detroit-born producer has been a TSIS favorite since we started covering music years ago. After watching him grow since then, it’s safe to say 2017 has been GRiZ’s biggest year yet. He started off strong back in January when he reunited with Gramatik to drop “As We Proceed,” which has remained one of the biggest tracks of the year so far. He hasn’t slowed down since, appearing on a staggering amount of festival lineups, announcing his two-day Red Rocks event (which will include his live band debut), hosting GRiZMAS in July and much, much more.

Today GRiZ has kept that momentum as strong as ever with the drop of Good Will Continue, the long awaited remix album that he announced a month ago in addition to sharing a track from the album: Opiuo’s psychedelic take on “PS GFY,” which we premiered on the site in July. The 13-track album features both familiar and fresh faces to the industry, with the reworks branching into genres of all kinds. Artists like AC Slater, Claude VonStroke as Barclay Crenshaw, Tommy Trash and more offer their takes on GRiZ favorites, with each bringing their own signatures ranging from house, trap, funk, electro house and more to the tracks. What results is a fantastically diverse offering that has a little something for everyone within. Check out Good Will Continue and the accompanying tour dates below. Enjoy!

[PREMIERE] Opiuo Shares Funk-Fueled Remix of GRiZ’s “PS GFY” Feat. Cherub Ahead Of ‘Good Will Continue’ Remix Album

Opiuo GRiZ

TSIS favorite GRiZ has already had an explosive year between his electrifying reunion with Gramatik back in January for “As We Proceed” and the announcement of his impending live band debut in September. Today GRiZ’s 2017 got a whole lot bigger with the announcement of Good Will Continue, a 13-track remix album set to drop on August 18.

In honor of that announcement, we’re excited to be premiering one of the many vibrant remixes from the album: Opiuo’s funky remix of “PS GFY” feat. Cherub. This New Zealand-born producer has been in the game for nearly a decade now (he first appeared on TSIS back in 2011 for a bass-fueled remix of “Good Thymes”), designing releases that range from future-funk to glitch hop and more.

Opiuo certainly brought those years of experience to this explosive remix, completely re-imagining the track with his unique production style. A heavily distorted vocal lead, saxophone and warbly synths lead you in, with the energy only building from there. Each drop is different, with the second taking you on a deeper, more psychedelic route that keeps things fresh. Most recognizable from the original are the iconic brassy elements that make GRiZ’s tracks so authentically his own. Stream the exciting new remix below and be sure to check out the full "Good Will Continue" track list + upcoming GRiZ tour dates. Enjoy!
