Skrillex & Hundred Waters Team Up On Chill Single “Particle”

Skrillex Hundred Waters

Florida-born band Hundred Waters has captivated fans everywhere with a genre-blending sound that brings together elements of electronic music, acoustic instruments and more. The trio catapulted to worldwide fame just over a year ago when Skrillex remixed their single “Show Me Love,” even bringing in Chance The Rapper in for a verse that transformed the track into something music fans of all genres could love.

This was far from the first time the band and the producer came together – Skrillex signed the group to OWSLA all the way back in 2012. Although the fusion of Hundred Waters and Skrillex may have seemed unexpected, it’s made perfect sense as the years go by, proven in the band’s most recent release “Particle.” The track is a single off their forthcoming album and comes via OWSLA. Skrillex once again teamed up with the group in the song’s production, helping to create a masterful release that’s fresh and exciting.

The first thing you notice about “Particle” is the vocals. Nicole’s voice leaps through the speaker, gripping you from the start with her airy tone. Beyond her constant, haunting voice is the impeccable production. Layers and layers of elements are incorporated at various points throughout the track, including well-placed percussion, synths, subtle bass and even some flute. The result is a chill, spellbinding release that transcends multiple genres, showing Skrillex’s range when it comes to creating good music and his ability to come together with other producers to make something new. JOYRYDE Releases Unique Bass House Track “NEW BREED” feat. Darnell Williams + Music Video

Joyryde Image

JOYRYDE has been steadily on the rise for over a year now, and rightfully so. The LA-based producer’s future house and trap-influenced signature sound is heavy and infectious, resulting in powerful tracks like “I WARE HOUSE,” “DAMN,” “Hot Drum” and many more.

JOYRYDE has truly cultivated a sound all his own, and he’s only continued to hone his craft with his most recent release, “NEW BREED” feat. Darnell Williams. The track was released this past Friday on OWSLA’s highly anticipated house compilation titled HOWSLA, and the title of the song is a perfect fit.

Although “NEW BREED” is as pulsing and high energy as all of JOYRYDE’s previous releases, the bass house track is a welcome departure from anything the producer has ever done before. A unique, high-pitched synth pattern accompanies a pounding bassline throughout the drop, giving way every once and a while for an additional well-placed synth. As for the vocals, Darnell Williams adds an unexpected spin to the track. His tone is deep and intimidating, giving the release a gritty, deviant feel that contrasts well with the sharp instrumental components.

JOYRYDE also dropped a music video for “NEW BREED” today that he wrote the story for, directed and edited all on his own. The video is also much different from JOYRYDE’s usual projects – it’s chock full of Satanic rituals, guns and intense getaways all shot in an ominous setting. The theatrical visual representation of “NEW BREED” gives the song a more holistic feel, and knowing how much of a role JOYRYDE played in its creation makes it all the more interesting.
