Collie Buddz Press Shot

One of our favorite Reggae artists, Collie Buddz, is getting ready for his first full album in 10 years! Ahead of the long-anticipated project titled Good Life, he’s been kind enough to team up with us for the premiere of two incredible new songs “Lovely Day” and “Level” featuring P-Lo.

Collie Buddz always finds a way to capture a feel-good vibe on his releases and continues this trend here as we await the full album due this Friday, May 19. The project is Collie Buddz’s first independent release as he explains:

"Good Life as an album is a reflection of my life the last 10 years. "Lovely Day" in particular is one of my personal favorite songs on the album. Me nuh have no time for no badmind people pon mi ends, Mi rather have real enemies than fake friends" - Collie Buddz

“Lovely Day” and “Level” are just what we wanted to hear from Collie on his exciting return. “Lovely Day” is a feel-good summer ready track that will be stuck in your head for hours with the catchy vocals and irresistible, bouncing reggae instrumental. “Level” brings a dreamy, atmospheric instrumental bringing a hip-hop flavor to the uplifting track as Collie Buddz shows he’s still sounding as great as ever on this new material. Collie is heading out on tour with Rebelution & Nahko and Medicine for the People, see tour dates here

[TSIS Debut] Tessellated Blends Reggae, Hip-Hop And Electronic Influences On “Streets”

Tessellated Streets

Today we’re happy to be introducing a new face to the site. We came across Tessellated’s new track “Streets” and have been bumping it all week.

The 19-year-old artist was raised in Jamaica and lives in Orlando. Over email he gave us more insight on the project saying "the 'Tessellated' project started off as strictly instrumental and electronic about 2 years ago but now I'm aiming for a more organic style of music, trying to blend the reggae & dancehall that I grew up on with the jazz, funk and electronic influences that I grew to love later on and adding my own vocals to tie them all together."

On “Streets” we hear a unique hybrid sound blending a bouncing guitar melodies and vocals carrying a reggae sound while a horn breakdown, hip-hop percussion and a touch of electronic production ties everything together. Funky synthesized vocals give the track an irresistible sound that will be stuck in your head all day. In addition, we've included a couple more songs "I learnt some jazz today" and "talk to me" we feel you'll like as well. Enjoy!
