Crazy Talented Rising Rapper J.I.D. Impresses On Insane XXL Freshman Cypher

JID rapper

XXL released its first of the annual cyphers from its Freshman Class today, and it's going to be hard for any of the other artists from this year's list to top this one. XXL paired up two of the most promising rappers from their list to rap together, J.I.D. and Ski Mask the Slump God, who unsurprisingly had the two best freestyles out of the 9 artists they selected.

J.I.D. raps like he has something to prove here, and if this is your first time hearing the Atlanta artist you are sure to be hooked. There are very few in hip-hop today that can rap like he can, and the amount of words he fits in his minute and rhymes together is just amazing. It really has everything - dizzying wordplay, meaningful content, clever punchlines, and a captivating voice to tie it all together. When Ski Mask the Slump God comes in after him, he decides to cut the beat and rap acapella. While his flows are fun as always, it would've been cool to hear him adapt them to the beat, and it is hard for him to follow-up after J.I.D. laid down one of the best verses in XXL cypher history.

J.I.D. is gearing up to release DiCaprio 2, following his spectacular album last year that landed in our top 5 Top 20 Hip-hop/R&B Albums of 2017. Ski Mask released a new mixtape on SoundCloud a couple months ago and continues to give fans new music. Look out for both of these to continue to grow this year and have a huge 2019. Enjoy!

Rising Rappers Nessly And Ski Mask The Slump God Deliver Must Hear Album Single "WHOHASIT"

Ski Mask The Slump God Nessly

There's nothing better than a collab between two artists we love that turns out to be just what we were hoping for. Today rising rappers Nessly and Ski Mask The Slump God linked up on their infectious new track "WHOHASIT" that perfectly matches both rapper's styles.

The single comes early off Nessly's anticipated debut project WILDFLOWER coming soon and we can't wait for the full project. For those of you unfamiliar, Nessly has a similar melodic style to Travis Scott (you should check out his Solo Boy Band EP if you aren't familia) while Ski Mask The Slump God impresses with his wild flows and rapid fire raps that shine on standout tracks like "Catch Me Outside" reminding us of like a new age Busta Rhymes. Stay tuned for more from both artists and enjoy!

A$AP Ferg & Ski Mask, the Slump God Drop Hard-Hitting Collaboration "ILoveYourAunt"

ASAP Ferg Ski Mask The Slump God

A$AP Ferg just dropped his 14-track mixtape Still Striving, and keeps the new music coming. For his newest track "ILoveYourAunt," he's linked up with Ski Mask, the Slump God for an amazing collab.

Ski Mask has been making waves this year putting up insane streaming numbers with his recent track "Catch Me Outside" being on repeat for us months after its release. Here the two go in over a Missy Elliott sample as they skip and bounce atop with fun instrumental showing off an instant chemistry. We're hoping these two link up more down the road, but for now this will have to do. Stay tuned for A$AP Mob's album to drop this Friday the 25th. Enjoy!
