Skrillex Shares Epic 12-Minute Documentary Of 2016 Titled "The Same Place"

skrillex

What a year 2016 was for Skrillex. The wildly talented, multi-faceted artist dropped heavy singles like "Waiting" with What So Not and RL Grime, "Purple Lamborghini" with Rick Ross and "Killa" with Wiwek to name a few.

His record label, OWSLA, is stronger than ever and has cultivated an incredibly loyal following from its brand, which has somewhat developed into a lifestyle. His imprint has continued to be a trendsetter in electronic music, picking up promising acts like Marshmello and Joyryde who've become some of the most exciting dance acts to watch in the past year.

Skrillex, along with Jas Davis and Winterhalter who have filmed and edited his insane pictures and videos, have put together an epic 12-minute mini doc called "The Same Place" that recaps the year. He also drops some serious knowledge in the middle of it all.

"Make music for the 16 year old inside yourself even when you're 50 years old. Fuck the craft, everyone can learn how to do this shit. Cultivate your own thing, stick together and just do that. Have some fun, make some music. If it's fun --- that's all that matters. I'm having fun. I'm in the same room you're all sitting in right now. I'm in the same place you guys are." -- Skrillex

You'll also hear some heavy edits of his releases like "Lamborghini" in the beginning. Watch the video below and enjoy!

Skrillex Returns As Lead Singer Of From First To Last And Shares New Single "Make War"

Skrillex

It's Sonny Moore aka Skrillex's birthday today, and he has decided to surprise fans, both new and old, by reuniting with his old band From First To Last to release "Make War" which has just surfaced on Spotify and iTunes a few hours ahead of its release. This marks the first song he's done with the band in over 10 years...

It's confirmed that Sonny has provided the lead vocals on top of co-writing it and helping with the production.

The release comes a few weeks after a low-res video surfaced of what appeared to be him recording vocals with the band. Sonny has very rarely provided his vocals on tracks since parting from From First To Last years back with one of the reasons being his need to get surgery on his vocal chords.

What's even more surprising is that he is listed as one of the members on the groups newly-created Instagram account. See screenshot below:

For some, this will show quite a different side to Sonny. For others, this will be a nice surprise to hear him back with his former band. Listen to "Make War" below and grab your copy on iTunes. Enjoy!

We will keep you updated as more info comes in on this matter.

Skrillex Releases 60+ Minute Techno Set From Burning Man's Robot Heart Camp

skrillex burning man

One of the coolest things about Burning Man is it's openness. The festival has become a center point for freedom of expression. Artists from all over the world have played on its unique art stages and shown a new side to their musical repertoire. Skrillex has just shared his Burning Man set from Robot Heart camp and is a prime example of this.

While Skrillex is mainly known for his bass music -- "Purple Lamborghini" and "Waiting" in most recent months -- he dives into a 60+ minute techno set for Burning Man where he weaves through house beats and ambient sequences.

"This was a really special set because we had all of our friends with us. I brought a lot of first time burners out to the Playa this year. The whole Robot Heart crew took care of us all, and we got to see a lot of the art while I played. This year I collaborated with the team behind Embrace on the Space Whale project.

Hope you enjoy the mix, I mess up a few times but it doesn't really matter because the vibe was so awesome and so real." -- Skrillex

Check out his set below and enjoy!
