Hip-Hop Producer Statik Selektah Drops New Album "8" Ft. Joey Bada$$, Run The Jewels, G-Eazy, Action Bronson & More

Statik Selektah album

Legendary producer and DJ Statik Selektah released his eighth studio album 8 today, and the list of features is giant. Over the 17 tracks, he has recruited Run the Jewels, 2 Chainz, Action Bronson, Joey Bada$$, G-Eazy, and many, many more.

Statik Selektah built up anticipation for this album by releasing "Put Jewels on It (feat. Run the Jewels)" and "Ain't a Damn Thing Change (feat. G-Eazy & Joey Bada$$), and the rest of the album does not disappoint. He still knows how to create a classic hip-hop beat that sounds incredibly fresh, and it's great to hear some of these rappers over something different for them. Some of the highlights include the contemplative track with No Malice, who was in the group The Clipse with Pusha T, and the throwback banger with Raekwon and Royce da 5'9.

The whole album is worth listening to for its standout beats, and some of the lesser known names really shine on this. Enjoy!

G-Eazy & Joey Bada$$ Link Up With Statik Selektah & Enisa On Chill New Collab "Ain't A Damn Thing Change"

G Eazy Joey Badass

Thanks to one of our favorite hip-hop producers Statik Selektah, we'e been blessed with a new song bringing G-Eazy and Joey Bada$$ together. This new single "Ain't A Damn Thing Change" comes off the talented producer's forthcoming album 8, due Dec. 8.

We've heard Statik's collaboration with Run The Jewels off the album and he keeps the smooth tracks coming on this latest. He's been working with Joey Bada$$ for years and once again shows off their chemistry on the mellow collab. The laidback tune brings some classic boom-bap styled drums alongside bouncing basslines, lush keys and soulful horns with female vocalist Enisa ties things together between the rapper's smooth verses. Enjoy!

Run The Jewels Link With Statik Selektah On Laidback New Track "Put Jewels On It"

Run The Jewels put jewels on it

Run The Jewels were on a hotstreak of album releases from 2014-2016 with their RTJ trilogy, but have taken 2017 to focus on touring together. We've gotten a couple singles from them this year from the FIFA 18 Soundtrack and the soundtrack for the film Baby Driver, and we've just heard a third from the TSIS favorite duo that will be featured on Statik Selektah's forthcoming album, 8.

The new song “Put Jewels on It” is something different from the group, because their production is usually handled by one-half of the duo, El-P. This track is produced by Boston beatmaker Statik Selektah, best known for his work with Joey Bada$$ and Freddie Gibbs. In place of El-P’s aggressive production, the beat takes a more mellow approach and allows Killer Mike and El-P’s rhymes to shine over a classic sounding hip-hop instrumental.

Statik Selektah recently signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, and will be releasing his eighth studio album in December. Enjoy!
