Today we have something special we’ve been waiting for. After stealing the hearts of Anderson .Paak fans everywhere, his band The Free Nationals are prepping for the release of their highly anticipated new album. Now they’ve shared a new single “Beauty & Essex” featuring the talents of Daniel Caesar and Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Ruben Nielsen

The Free Nationals worked alongside Anderson .Paak across his breakout album Malibu and continued to work with him on his tour. On this new song they build a laid-back, dreamy foundation of slick instrumentals while Caesar’s silky vocals effortlessly glide along the foundation like honey.

We’ve been patiently awaiting new music from the group as they’ve teased their forthcoming album that features artists like Mac Miller, Kali Uchis and more. Stay tuned for more and enjoy!

Anderson .Paak Announces Solo Album Is Due In 2018 + New Album From His Band The Free Nationals

Anderson .Paak has just made the exciting announcement his new album is due this year! Not only his next solo album right around the corner, but also his project with his touring band and collaborators, The Free Nationals

He made the claim over a year ago that we'd hear the new Free Nationals album in 2017, but time and time again rappers have proven to be unreliable with promising new music. Now that he's shared this news, we're hoping the projects are coming sooner rather than later.

It's been over two years since .Paak dropped his incredible album Malibu, which was our favorite hip-hop album of the year and have been patiently awaiting new music from the eclectic artist. Now, in an interview with Triple J, he’s shared his follow-up project is in the mixing stage and we can “definitely expect it this year.” Additionally he's shared very exciting news on Dr. Dre's involvement, saying he "had a heavy role in this new album that’s almost done as well. Just going through the mixing phase."

He’s also shared the star-studded guest list for the Free Nationals album, which includes contributions from Mac Miller, Daniel Caesar, Kali Uchis, possibly T.I., and of course, Anderson .Paak. Luckily, we’re going to be held over a little longer this week with his collaboration alongside James Blake for the Black Panther movie soundtrack. Stay tuned for more info and enjoy!

Anderson .Paak had an insane year in 2016. He dropped one of our favorite hip-hop album of the year and cracked our top 10 a second time with his NxWorries album alongside producer powerhouse Knxwledge. Now .Paak has some more big news for us...he and his touring band / collaborators The Free Nationals have an album coming out this year.

He took to Instagram announcing “2017 will bring a whole lot of amazing music your way. One of the projects I am most excited for is this freenationals LP tho!! #FreeNats #thefreenationals #obituaries #OBE” and shared the artwork (below) via twitter. The live performances we’ve seen from .Paak have been incredible and an LP on the way from his band is something we’re very stoked about.

He hasn’t given any details about the project but his hashtag has us thinking the project might be called Obituaries. We’ll see. Stay tuned for more info and new singles. In the meantime, check out a couple videos of .Paak and The Free Nationals live below. Moreover, they're joining Bruno Mars on his massive 24k Magic Tour. Enjoy!
