The XX Receive Refreshing House Remix From Felix Cartal For "A Violent Noise" [Free Download]

the xx

Last month, The xx released their highly-anticipated third studio album, I See You. The UK band stayed quiet for several years prior but made a big return in the months leading up to the LP with songs like "On Hold" and "Say Something Loving". Vancouver's very own Felix Cartal has decided to put his own spin on "A Violent Noise" off the project and we dig it.

Cartal picks up the mood of the original song and incorporates a feel-good guitar melody into the drop that's blended with echoing textures, bursts of white noise and the smooth vocals of Romy and Oliver of the group. We're really vibing to Felix Cartal's refreshing melodic house sound, something we've heard before on his "Drifting Away" single feat. Ofelia K. Stream his remix of "A Violent Noise" below and be sure to grab your free download. Enjoy!

The xx I see you

The xx are back with the highly anticipated release of their third studio album, I See You. This latest release is the follow-up to their incredible Coexist LP in 2012.

After years of staying quiet, the UK trio returned in a big way with their amazing lead single "Hold On" which brought a much bigger presence from Jaime xx than we’d previously heard from the group. They followed that up with "Say Something Loving" which had a more familiar xx sound with gentle instrumentation and duet-styled vocal performances from Rome and Oliver.

Now the project is available in full and builds on the sound we last heard from The xx, delivering a wider range of styles than their previous releases. Following Coexist, Jamie xx went out on his own to share an incredible solo album called In Colour where he showcased his uncanny sampling and production abilities. Now they’ve incorporated more of Jaime’s dance-driven tendencies into some of the tracks on I See You.

While a few of the tracks carry a higher level of energy, others deliver the gentle, minimal instrumentation that’s made up their signature sound we all know. Stream I See You in full below and enjoy!

The xx Release Single "Say Something Loving" From New Album

The XX

With The xx’I See You album coming on Jan. 13, they’ve shared "Say Something Loving" as the latest single off the project. This follows up the project’s lead single "On Hold", as well as "I Dare You" which was debuted on SNL.

While "On Hold" carries heavier influence from Jaime xx's signature production, “Say Something Loving” goes a more instrumental route, focusing on the duet-styled vocal performance. This new single isn’t our favorite release from The xx, but we couldn't keep it from you. We’re anxiously awaiting their third studio album! Enjoy!
