Virtual Riot Shares Diverse, Extra Heavy 'German Engineering' EP

Virtual Riot German Engineering EP

Over the past few years, Virtual Riot has continued to impress us time and time again with his incredible production. When it comes to extra-heavy dubstep or lighthearted future bass, the German powerhouse producer continues to push his sound far beyond our expectations. And today, VR has outdone himself yet again with a brand new 6-track EP titled German Engineering.

Even though this latest offering slides in as Virtual Riot’s 13th (yes thirteenth) EP to date, it’s sounding like some of his freshest, heaviest work to date. Filled with inspiration from all over the bass-music spectrum, listeners can expect a sonic journey through riddim-inspired basslines, energetic drum & bass percussion and some of the most abrasive, sophisticated sound design we’ve heard in a while. Getter & Virtual Riot Drop Extra Heavy Remix Of Excision & Space Laces' "Throwin' Elbows"

Getter Excision

Getter and Virtual Riot just dropped an absolutely filthy remix of Excision and Space Laces’ track “Throwin’ Elbows,” giving the dubstep banger an even heavier vibe. In addition to his recent work as Terror Reid, Getter has released his hip-hop tune “Bury Me” as well as a VIP mix of his track “Inhalant Abuse,” all within the span of a week. Similarly, Virtual Riot was recently featured on Dubloadz’s new album and also just dropped a collaboration with 12th Planet and Luberjvck titled “Sooo Sick.” Both artists are keeping the momentum strong with today’s collaboration.

Getter and Virtual Riot’s remix of “Throwin’ Elbows” uses the metal guitar progression and “Give me some room” vocals from the original. It then drops with blasting bass and metallic wobbles before building up to another breakdown complete with melodic synth leads and rising laser sounds. Finally, the collaborators come back full force for a third drop, this time incorporating a hybrid bass vibe, with trap 808s and percussion and whooshing dubstep synths and samples.

Getter and Virtual Riot go all out on their monster of a remix for Excision and Space Laces’ “Throwin’ Elbows,” with a track all bassheads can get behind. This remix is one of many to be featured on Excision’s upcoming Virus the Remixes album, which will be out September 12. Check the track out now below and enjoy!

Virtual Riot Shares Dreamy Original Track "Pixel Forest"

Virtual Riot Pixel Forest

Virtual Riot has a knack for creating both bass heavy and lighthearted originals, while sometimes combining influences to create emotional yet heavy-hitting tracks. Throughout 2016 we featured just a handful of smooth new releases from Virtual Riot, including singles “In My Head,” “Flutter” and more. This sound has taken the producer in a more future bass-style route as of late, highlighting the fact that you really can’t place Virtual Riot into any box. Today he’s proved that once again with the release of “Pixel Forest,” a dreamy original out now via Spirited’s newest compilation.

“Pixel Forest” is a fitting name for this track, which brings to mind video games and other virtual worlds. In addition to this, it highlights the softer style that Virtual Riot sometimes takes on for his releases. The song has many layers that playfully bounce off of one another - including wobbly melodies, atmospheric synth patterns, lush buildups and breakdowns, and much more. If that isn’t good enough already, the single is also available for a free download. Check out “Pixel Forest” below and enjoy!
