Listen To ZHU’s Surprise "Blacklizt" Techno Set From Coachella This Year

zhu coachella blacklizt set

If you’ve been a fan of electronic music over the past few years, then there’s a good chance you’ve had the opportunity to catch ZHU live, either at city stop or on the festival circuit. Although the obscure, enigmatic artist has recently just announced a full North American tour following the release of his latest acclaimed album, Ringo’s Desert Pt. 1, ZHU is already finding a way to switch things up. During a surprise appearance at the Do LaB stage at Coachella this year, ZHU threw down a “Blacklizt” set. The differences between a standard ZHU set and a Blacklizt set haven’t been made explicitly clear, but based on what we’ve heard and seen so far, it sounds like Blacklizt is ZHU’s techno persona.

Throughout the entire set, we can hear different unidentifiable techno remixes of classic ZHU tracks like “Working For It,” “Automatic,” “Intoxicate,” “In The Morning,” and plenty more. The music sounds like unmistakable ZHU, but in a way we’ve never heard before, and quite frankly, we’re loving every bit of it. During the second half of the Blacklizt set, ZHU transitions into tracks that we’re more familiar with, ultimately concluding some heavier sounds like his collab with Ekali.

This is the first actual full listen of ZHU’s Blacklizt project that we’ve been able to get our hands on, and we can only hope for more. There’s only one official scheduled “Blacklizt” date in the future, and it’ll be during Splash House in Palm Springs, California, which takes place June 8-10.

In the meantime, do yourself a favor and listen to the even darker side of ZHU, with this full stream of his surprise Blacklizt set at Coachella. Enjoy!

ZHU Delivers Hypnotic New Remix Of Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa’s “One Kiss”

zhu one kiss remix

ZHU  blew us away when he returned to his dark and moody sound on his most recent album Ringo’s Desert Pt. 1. We’ve been fans of ZHU’s since the very beginning, but nothing gets us going quite like his hypnotic, minor-key melodies. That’s why when we saw that he had remixed one of our favorite recent singles from Calvin Harris (featuring Dua Lipa), we knew it was going to be heat.

When “One Kissfirst dropped, we were stoked to hear that Calvin Harris was back to making smooth, dance-driven deep house. ZHU, however, has taken “One Kiss” to an entirely new level. The downpitched vocals and sinister melodies have this remix sounding like a classic ZHU track, along with the way he adds his own unmistakable voice to the tune.

We hope that ZHU continues to ride this sound out for as long as possible. If you liked the way his recent album was sounding, then you’ll definitely get a kick out of this new remix. Enjoy!

ZHU Delivers Dark New Music Video For "Still Want U" With Karnaval Blues

ZHU just recently returned in a big way, dropping a next level new project Ringo's Desert Pt. 1 (part of a larger project coming this year), announced his DUNE tour bringing 2.5 tons of sand with him to tour stops and keeps the new content coming. Now he's shared the dark new video for "Still Want U" off Ringo's Desert featuring Karnaval Blues.

When I say dark video, I don't neccesarily mean it's creepy or menacing, it's just literally dark and hard to tell what's going on at times, which fits with his aesthetic perfectly. See for yourself and check out his tour dates below.
