Aonian Drops Worldly Downtempo Track “The Gathering”, an Ode to His Greek Roots

Today we have an enchanting tune from Aonian, a Greek-born producer who is devising an electronic album that encompasses his native country’s sounds. Over the weekend, he released “The Gathering”, a mesmerizing single from the upcoming record that puts that effort on display. The intricate song blends Mediterranean influences, whimsical instrumentation, and a bouncy, airy rhythm.

“The Gathering” is a track where the instrumentation shines. The intro feels very atmospheric and organic, with UK musician Nicki Maher on the clarinet and the polyphonic choir samples adding to the tribal vibe of the song. It has a long wind up into a dancey breakdown, with analog synths and a steady melody. Aonian seems to find a perfect way to transition from ethnic soundscape to a more modern electronic production, ending up with an entirely unique sound.

You can listen to the track below. Enjoy!
