GRAMMY season is officially here! The most prestigious award ceremony in the music industry has unveiled its nominations for 2024. It will be the 66th GRAMMY Awards show since its creation in 1959.
The Dance/Electronic music category has always been a point of contention for fans as many believe there just isn’t enough representation for the modern landscape. However, we’re continuing to see more and more electronic artists receive nominations and this year is no exception.
One of the awards biggest prizes is Best New Artist and this year Fred again.. has received a nomination. The UK dance phenom is by far the most nominated electronic artist, only capping off his immensely successful year.
The nominees for Best Dance/Electronic Recording are Aphex Twin’s “Blackbox Life Recorder 21F,” James Blake’s “Loading,” Disclosure’s “Higher Than Ever Before,” Romy & Fred again..’s “Strong,” and Skrillex, Fred again.., & Flowdan’s “Rumble.”
The nominees for Best Dance/Electronic Music album are James Blake’s Playing Robots Into Heaven, The Chemical Brothers’ For That Beautiful Feeling, Fred again..’s Actual Life 3 (January 1 – September 9 2022), Kx5’s Kx5, and Skrillex’s Quest For Fire.
Another notable category this year is the Best Remixed Recording. Among the nominees are Dom Dolla’s remix of Gorillaz “New Gold” and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs’ remix of Lane 8’s “Reviver.”
