Today, we have the great pleasure sharing brand new music from Buns. The drum & bass virtuoso just finished an exciting tour run as direct support for What So Not, and has quite the impressive year of releases planned. Her first new single of 2023, “Helix,” kicks things off with a bang.
Buns takes the listener on a wild ride over the course of “Helix.” Embracing main-stage vibes to the fullest, the producer utilizes powerful stereo pads and upfront vocal chops at the forefront of the mix. A drum & bass beat drives the track forward, with intimate interludes punctuating each epic drop.
Buns shared some insight into the creation of “Helix,” commenting:
The speed of life was overwhelming after the pandemic. I think I was aching to be comfortably alone and somewhere deep in nature, but funnily at the same time I was actually finding that solace at all these crowded, anonymous underground shows. As I kept diving deep into these environments where I could disappear, it clicked to me that what I wanted was a feeling of escape. I thought maybe I could fuse the ‘freeing’ feeling of this initial melody with the ‘freeing’ feeling of drum and breaks from all these undergrounds I was attending.
