Chance the Rapper continues to be one of the most exciting new voices in hip-hop while managing to stay completely independent. The lack of a major label has not prevented the flow of music, as we've seen a series of free singles released alongside his band The Social Experiment in the past few months like the Wonder Everyday (Arthur Theme), No Better Blues and I Am Very Very Lonely among others. So it did not come as a huge surprise, when Chance revealed in a recent Billboard article that he has been working on quite a bit of new music – a few albums worth of material – and we can expect the first one by the end of the year.
The first album will be called Surf and highlights The Social Experiment band member Nico Segal aka Donnie Trumpet, a versatile musician and trumpet player of the group. To make things even better this album will be available completely for free and we can expect it before the end of the year, leaving us feeling like the holidays are coming early!
Surf is the first project since Acid Rap that Chance is heavily involved in, and we can only imagine that it will be some of his strongest work to date. Furthermore, the rapper went on to reveal some of the collaborations he has the in works mentioning the likes of Migos, J. Cole, Frank Ocean, Emily Kang and even some guidance from Rick Rubin.
We will keep you posted as more info rolls in on Surf.
