Chance The Rapper just shared the surprising news he will be staring in a short film titled Slice coming to theaters in 2017. The project is headed by filmmaker Austin Vesely, who was the director behind many Chance and the Savemoney crew’s videos, including "Angels," which has been nominated for VMA’s music video of the year award.
We’ve seen Chance dabble in acting previously when he starred in a Vice short film Mr. Happy in 2015, and now we will get to see him in his first feature-length film next year. Slice is a murder mystery that was originally planned to be a short film, but has been been turned into a fill movie and was secretly filmed around Chicago this summer.
In a 2015 Interview, Vesely shared that Chance is set to appear in the film as Dax Lycander, who is a “werewolf who is a former Chinese food delivery driver.” He added that Chance "speeds in and out like how the Joker comes in and out of ‘The Dark Knight.’ That’s the inspiration for how we handled the Dax character.” The film might have been adapted since Vesely gave this interview, but it has us excited to see how the finished project turned out. Watch a short clip and check out Chance’s appearance in Mr. Happy below while you’re at it. enjoy!
