Channel Tres Weaves A Velvety Vibe On Genre-Blending EP, ‘i can’t go outside’

It’s no secret we’re all aboard the Channel Train here. Channel Tres has carved out a special place in our hearts and our headphones with his eclectic library of genre-blending music, and now he puts that wide-ranging talent on display with the release of his new EP, I can’t go outside.

EP single, “skate depot,” gave us familiar first glimpse of the project with its galloping 4×4 kit and bobbing vocals, and while we no doubt enjoy that hip-house sound that Channel has become so famous for, the rest of the EP gives us a refreshing look at the deep well of production and composition talent within the artist. The nostalgic “2000 chevy malibu” leaves listeners in a slow-motion daze, while “fuego” featuring Tyler, The Creator contains enough attitude to fuel a city block. And that rose colored, R&B kissed vibe of “take your time” featuring Tinashe: the chef’s kiss to cap it all off.

This third EP is a product and reflection of the script-flipping chaos of the year, and while none of us could have foreseen the unravelling of 2020, we’re glad to see one of our favorite artists was able to make the most out of it. Stream Channel Tres’ newest EP, I can’t go outside, below. Enjoy!
