An established force of electronic production and an advocate for continuous innovation throughout his discography, artist and producer, Daniel Avery, is looking to a new source of inspiration on his fifth studio album. The LP, entitled Ultra Truth, finds the producer confronting the darkness in life head-on, both through sound and mind.
Saturated kits and delicate synth leads characterize the LP, Avery experimenting with darker sounds than ever before. Title track, “Ultra Truth,” blends grinding bass with reverb-filled melodies, balancing so flawlessly and showcasing Avery’s immaculate production talents. Features from HAAi, Jonnine, SHERELLE, A.K. Paul, Kelly Lee Owens, and James Massiah diversify the LP, each talented artist bringing their own sonic twist to the producer’s established sound.
Daniel commented on the development of the LP, saying:
My previous albums have all focused on the idea of music being an escape or a distraction from the world but that’s not the case this time. For me this album is about looking directly into the darkness, not running away from it. There’s a way through these times but it involves keeping the important people in your life close to you and navigating the noise together. This is an intentionally heavy and dense album, the hooks often hidden in dusty corners. I’m no longer dealing in a misty-eyed euphoria. ‘Ultra Truth‘ is a distorted fever dream of a record: riled, determined and alive.
