2015 has been a relatively quiet year for Deadmau5 as far as new music goes. However, when it comes to the Mau5 there is rarely a lack of conversations to be had concerning his antics and live shows. On top of launching his new "Mousetrap" inspired stage set up (like the board game) and touring the festival circuit efficiently appearing at events including Bonnoroo, Austin City Limits, and HARD DOTD, he's revealed that he’s set himself a target of completing a new album for the start of 2016.
Well with 2016 just around the corner we finally see a bit of light shed on some of what Joel has been working on as of late. Today he surprised fans in his usual fashion, casually uploading a 7:44 minute song "Imaginary Friends" to his "Fuckmylife" soundcloud page. "Imaginary Friends" has some classic Deadmau5 elements as sweeping synth automation and beautiful melodies rise and transform into a hard hitting electro drop. There is a good chance that this record could see a feature on Mau5's next album in a further refined form, perhaps along side other soundcloud uploads from 2015 like "BLOOD FOR THE BLOODGOAT" , as we saw with many 2014 soundcloud uploads appearing on his last album While (1<2).
