demotapes Taps pluko For Latest Single, “the river”

San Francisco producer, demotapes, has recently hopped on our radar with his melodic yet pleasantly glitchy brand of music. It’s light and airy with just enough punch to keep you on your toes. Today, we share the up-and-comer’s newest single, “the river,” featuring pluko.

This track is pure joy and innocence. From the delicate vocal to the pastel synth work, you might find yourself in a space of hopeful vulnerability. Embrace that space, for the arrival of the full production brings a glistening percussive catharsis that is oh-so rejuvenating.

The wholesome energy of the tune seems to be a reflection of the partnership that formed it. demotapes explains:

“Ever since we worked together on his 2020 album “Color Blind”, Sam (pluko) and I have worked together on a ton of songs, and have developed a really strong creative partnership. We push each other to become better artists. Back in October of 2022, pluko came to San Francisco to play a festival called “Breakaway”. After the festival, we spent a few days in my basement studio in SF working on songs- and “the river” was one of the ideas born out of those sessions. The majority of the song came together in one day – which is super rare for us- and I think the song reflects how carefree and fun it was making it. This song is just the beginning for what pluko and I have in store this year.”

“the river” is the third single off demotapes’ debut EP, which is due next month. Until then, stream the new track below and enjoy!
