Donald Glover is seemingly the busiest man in America… and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. In case you missed it, he made his epic return as Childish Gambino and earned himself his first #1 song with "This Is America." With the new Star Wars movie on Han Solo releasing in the coming weeks, Glover’s role as Lando Calrissian is getting early praise from critics and Lucasfilms alike. Now it’s looking like Glover might be getting his own Star Wars movie.
Lucasfilm studio chief Kathleen Kennedy just did an interview with French publication Premiere saying she’d love to give Lando Calrissian his own movie with the legendary franchise, saying “We think that the next spinoff will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian.” Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the fact they are interested in the thought of Glover starring in his own Star Wars movie is very promising. Stay tuned for more info and Enjoy!
Update: Apparently there was a miscommunication between Kennedy and Premiere, which they have changed the quote to say "One day, we would love to tell a story about Lando Calrissian, but that’s not relevant. It would be fun to tell the story of Han and Chewie…” and added “Kathleen Kennedy was saying ‘I would love to see a Lando film in the future, and it would also be fun to tell another Han and Chewie story.” So it seems Kennedy mispoke and there actually isn't confirmation of a Lando-focused film. But after seeing all the hype about the character played by Glover, we're hoping they end up doing one.
