Elderbrook Reflects On Self-Discovery With New Album ‘Another Touch’

Alex Kotz, more known as Elderbrook, captured the hearts of dance music fans combining underground electronic sounds with indie, pop, and house. To say he is talented is simply an understatement. You could label him a producer, DJ, multi-instrumentalist, singer or songwriter, but what he is is a true artist whose medium is sound. Known for his chart-topping collab with CamelphatCola” which earned him a GRAMMY nomination, Elderbrook arrives today with a brand new third album, Another Touch. An inspiring journey of self-discovery.

The album spans 12 tracks, features zero skips, and is simply breathtaking. It sees Elderbrook combine his stunning voice with intricate production that makes every song extremely moving in some way, shape, or form. Elderbrook also explores different moods and genres throughout the album, and selects the perfect collaborators for each. “Sunshine” brings along Snakehips for a sunny summer house tune, while Vintage Culture provides support for the club-ready “Run.” Turkish born DJ and producer Carlita comes along for the heartfelt and melodic “Wait For You,” and the albums final track is a collaboration with South African DJ and producer Shimza titled “Places” in which Elderbrook’s vocals complement the afro-tech production seamlessly. Elderbrook also flashes his genius in solo tracks like “One More Before You Go,” which might be the most grandiose record on the project, as well as “How Long”, another afro-tech track where his vocals delicately glide over the emotional production.

On the album, Elderbrook had this to say:

“Another Touch album is a journey of self-discovery. It begins with someone who has lost themselves so completely they barely recognise the person in the mirror. Everything is shallow and inconsistent in their life so as to protect them from anything which might hold some true meaning. As the album unfolds so too does the story of our ‘hero’ who finds new ways to think about, and reflect on their life, and the lessons learned along the way.” He continues “Another Touch centres around the loves, losses and ups and downs of life and how we think about ourselves and our place within the world. Who are we when the night ends? When everything goes quiet and it is time for us to speak what do we have to say? It’s a beautiful and reflective story of tragedy, loss and of finding yourself despite the dark.”
