Earlier this year, we were brought back to the Golden Dubstep era sound when legendary producers, Emalkay, The Others, & Subscape decided to drop a collab together. Between the three of them, there’s a plethora of OG dubstep hits that will forever leave their mark on the genre. This weekend, the UK bass legends are finally ready to drop their collaborative EP, Flashpoint, out now via Deadbeats.
Over the 8-track project, Emalkay, The Others, & Subscape bring us right back to the classic days of dubstep. As is true with so many productions from that time, there’s a strong cinematic quality present. Melody driven synths and chords provide dissonance from the apocalyptic, heavy-hitting sound design. While each producer’s distinctive styles can be heard throughout Flashpoint, its their ability to meld together into one unified project that’s nothing short of mindblowing.
