It’s been over three long years since the release of Flume’s self-titled, debut album that raised the bar in electronic music, and we’re getting closer to the Aussie musical icon’s much anticipated follow-up album Skin. We recently were blessed with a new single off the project with “Smoke & Retribution,” which garnished a splendid future bass / trap remix from Ekali, and has now received another stand out remix / cover version from Medasin.
We recently heard contributions from Medasin on Josh Pan’s 14 minute long masterpiece “Opus” on a remix of Keith Ape’s “IT G MA,” and we’re pleasantly surprised with his latest release.
The Dallas based producer has lent his production abilities to recreate Flume’s original stripping away all original production and introducing his own spacey vibe with dense, atmospheric synth melodies bringing a more soulful vibe. He’s completely eliminated Vince Staples verses and brought on vocalist Tyler Carter to deliver his blissful R&B singing combining with the clever production for an infectious take on Flume’s track sounding completely unlike the original.
