We were overcome with excitement when Gorillaz animator Jaime Hewlett announced “Yes Gorillaz Returns” on Instagram, and now the wheels are in motion for a new album as they are heading into the studio this September.
The virtual animation band’s frontman Damon Albarn appeared on Australian TV ABC to announce he's "starting recording in September for a new Gorillaz record. I've just been really, really busy so I haven't had a chance. I'd love to just get back into that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week.” Earlier this year, Albarn released Magic Whip with his band Blur as their first album since 2003, and this will be the first Gorillaz album since 2011’s The Fall.
