France’s own HOMALS captures the imagination in his bright and honest world with Even The Sun Will Fade. Across 6 songs, upbeat moments of bliss are juxtaposed by honest, vulnerable sad songs. Smooth synths, vibrant toplines, and chipper percussion inclusion decorate the arc across the EP, giving the impression that every bar was designed with intention.
“So Long,” set the energy level perfectly for what’s to come. Stuttering rhythms and an all-instrumental direction sets a curious tone. “Empress Of The Sun,” the first of 3 vocal collaborations, pairs catchy melodies with an eased-and-slowed house beat. As the EP begins to reveal itself, “Burn Slowly,” brings a break to the tension, great mid-through placement that utilizes familiar chopped vocals alongside echoey atmospheres. “Alone, Together,” turns the corner with a romantic and lush pop vocal ballad, allowing the world to melt away temporarily. This lays the groundwork for “Always The Eyes,” guiding the listener toward easy-to-follow vocals dipped in a charming, glittery instrumental.
Title track, “Even The Sun Will Fade,” closes things out with a cinematic color. Plucked string instruments and clanky metallic beats dial things down to an eased close; like a grandfather clock ticking ever slowly to its final resting spot. The EP leaves the listener with peace and positivity.
HOMALS, hailing from the south west part of France, is inspired by names like Point Point and has a similar sound as names like San Holo and Madeon. The solo talent creates a sense of a completion with what he releases, Even The Sun Will Fade is no different. Stream the EP below and enjoy!
