Hot Chip Returns With Introspective Synth Pop Album ‘Freakout/Release’

The name “Hot Chip” has become synonymous with offbeat Indie music and timeless talent. A career spanning over two decades has seen the English outfit rack up awards and nominations while consistently keeping fans coming back for more. Today, we’re proud to introduce the ageless wonder of Hot Chip to TSIS with the release of their eighth album, Freakout/Release.

Click play and you’re immediately greeted with an infectious disco synth-pop hybrid track, “Down.” The energy remains upbeat before ebbing into reflective territory with tracks like “Not Alone” and “Hard To Be Funky” giving pause for thought. The aptly named album leans into these energy shifts and lyrical digs building a cathartic experience from a group that has persevered through career highs and personal lows.

This latest project follows Hot Chip’s 2019 album, A Bath Full Of Ecstasy, which picked up a host of award nominations including an A2IM Libera Award nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album. Stream the emotive follow-up, Freakout/Release, below. Enjoy!
