It’s a new year, which means brand new music! Today, we are gifted a brand new EP from the dynamic and talented Jade Cicada and his brand new Lunar Fade EP. In his first original work for over two years, Jade Cicada flexes his production prowess and intricate sound design for a project you won’t want to miss.
Jade Cicada’s musical journey begins in his youth as a classical trained musician in his formative years, ultimately leading to the Berklee College of Music where he studied Electronic Production and Jazz theory. His music and this EP are deeply influenced by jazz. Impressively complex and polished.
The Lunar Fade EP stands at four tracks, and is such a fun listen. Bass leaning, melodically diverse, and filled with a happy-go-lucky boom-bap. The title track “Lunar Fade” brings in the EP, matching its cover art as a cosmic track that blasts you off into space. “Froggy Style” is maybe the most fun listen, with a funky, ribbiting melody that’ll have you bouncing like a frog yourself. “Frame Shift,” the EP’s lead single, is the most melodic and harmonic on the project, simply beautiful.
Beginning his first headline tour in 6 years next week, you can catch Jade Cicada on his Break The Hold tour for the next few months, or see him this summer as he will be making festival appearances at Lightning In A Bottle, Bonnaroo, and Electric Forest.
