Kendrick Lamar dropped an absolute doozy of a track on Sunday that you need to hear. His latest release is titled “The Heart Part 5,” the fifth edition of his running saga that dates all the way back to 2010. This single preludes his upcoming, massively-anticipated studio album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. That’s due out at the end of the week, May 13.
Kendrick couldn’t have delivered a more triumphant return with this new song, his first solo original appearance since the Black Panther soundtrack. He delivers bars with incredible pace and precision for over five minutes, delivering heartfelt lyrics and social commentary.
The lyricism isn’t the only moving part of this release. The video is something to behold as well. On the surface the video appears to be simple—just Kendrick rapping in front of a camera—but that changes quickly, once you see his face change during the performance. Kendrick ends up deep-faking several different public (and controversial in most instances) figures such as OJ Simpson, Kanye West, Will Smith, and more.
You can check out the new Kendrick Lamar single below, which also comes alongside a music video. Enjoy!
