We were totally blown away by the new house music coming from Keys N Krates earlier this year. The trio mentioned they had a new album coming out in the fall, but we didn’t have more information – until now. Not only does the project officially have a name – IN:TENSION – but they also dropped another single to celebrate, “Higher.”
Given Keys N Krates’ name and hip-hop origins, it’s fitting that “Higher” features heavy sampling from soul records. They take timeless elements like gospel vocal chops and pair them with modern components like the irresistible four-on-the-floor beat and booming 808s. Sunny keys complete this euphoric musical treat, with the retro, funky organ on the bridge acting as the cherry on top.
