Kid Cudi Claims His First ‘Man On The Moon’ Album “Changed Hip-Hop Forever”

Kid Cudi is declaring himself one of the most influential artists in modern hip-hop. And we’re not arguing.

In a series of tweets earlier this week, Cudi addressed the fact that Pitchfork has never given his music good scores. This was relevant as Pitchfork recently released an article that “rescored” a list of albums that they felt needed an update. Fans came to his side to petition Pitchfork to change the score of his debut album, Man On The Moon: The End of Day, which Pitchfork scored as a 4.1 back in 2009.

Kid Cudi’s tweet assured fans that he doesn’t care about the low score. “Years later and I’m still here,” he says. “Its ok man. They don’t need to change it.” Cudi then continues: “The entire world knows, even my haters, that this album was the one that changed hip hop forever.”

Pitchfork has never givin me good ratings, and here we are, years later and im still here. Its ok man. They dont need to change it. The entire world knows, even my haters, that this album was the one that changed hip hop forever. https://t.co/NBbSg0uMoY

In the replies, Kid Cudi went on further when a fan asked if the low scores even bothered him. He responded by saying that they did when he was younger, but after persevering through the many different eras of his career, that nothing would ever stop him now.

I think when I was younger I thought it would hurt my career. Like the fans would listen to the reviews and not give the music a chance. Then, I realized over the years after I survived each era and made album after album, that nothing anyone could ever say would stop my light ☺️ https://t.co/kzgDqzyKph
