Mau5trap’s Newest Prodigy, Lupa, Debuts Dark Techno EP, ‘Insatiable’

||, |

Elizabeth Small, aka Lupa, is a San Francisco-based new wave techno producer who draws a lot of influence from the underground techno scene in London. With biting acid synths and vicious kicks, her music is meant to transport listeners into a dark, yet familiar world. The rising producer, DJ, and artist has already impressed Deadmau5’s mau5trap imprint where she’s ready to release her debut EP, Insatiable.

Lupa invites listeners on a journey into the darkest corners of her mind and sets the tone for the rest of the EP on both “For The Ride” and “Darkness.” Both tracks evoke a shadowy spell as she fuses old school trance and innovative techno. On “Icarus,” Lupa takes a twisted turn into a more industrial soundscape filled with pounding drums and hypnotizing synths. The final track, “The Night,” maintains that industrial influence with the addition of airy vocal performances that give everything a nostalgic yet dystopian vibe.
