Since first introduced to TSIS in early 2016, Dallas producer Medasin has quickly become one of the most sought-after producers in electronic music. His ability to re-imagine other artist’s work into a fresh idea is unparalleled; An ability that has landed him official remixes for the likes of DJ Khaled and Portugal. The Man. Aside from his numerous impressive remixes, Medasin has also displayed a talent for creating unique originals. Previous singles such as “Daydream” and “Forever”, his collaborative track with EKALI, showcase the rising producer’s unique vision.
Today is a big day for Medasin as he dropped his highly anticipated Irene album; His debut solo packaged offering (He released The Pink Polo EP in 2016 with Masego – absolutely worth the listen). This album is not the first appearance of the Irene project. In January, Medasin uploaded a half-an-hour mix to SoundCloud titled ‘Irene’. He took to twitter to announce the project and stated “…a lot of these tracks have vocals that are being worked on for the later more official project. I removed all of the vocals cause I wanted this to be solely Medasin instrumental experience.” Well, the ‘more official’ project is here in all of its’ glory, and it is everything we could have hope for…
Composed of nine tracks, Irene is dreamy and innovative. Two of the cuts received proper vocal features; “Work For You” with Kaz Moon and “Tired” with, the always reliable, Sophie Meiers. Built upon his buoyant sound with inviting synths and standout percussion, Irene is a testament of Medasin’s highly developed production capabilities and a foretell of his forthcoming success. Enjoy!
