MGMT Announces Release of New Live Album

MGMT has announced a new live album to celebrate the anniversary of a very special performance.

On November 11, 2011, MGMT performed live at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. They were enlisted by the museum to create original music in conjunction with the Maurizio Cattelan exhibit, which opened that fall. On November 11, 2022, which will be the 11th anniversary of the show, MGMT will release the recordings of the performance. Titled 11-11-11 in honor of that date, it will be their first-ever live album release.

Regarding the performance, MGMT said this at the time:

We’re creating a musical experience that works for the building and for the construction and presentation of the Cattelan exhibit. It’s an art exhibit done in a completely original way, so it deserves music which is completely original.

MGMT’s last studio album, Little Dark Age, arrived in 2018. In 2020, at the start of the pandemic, the duo released a single titled “As You Move Through The World.”
