ODESZA Drop Midtempo Track “Light Of Day” as Final Album Single

||, |,

As we eagerly count down the days until ODESZA‘s next studio album comes out, the duo have given us one last gift to tide us over. This time, they recruited Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds for their majestic new song “Light Of Day.”

As we saw with “The Last Goodbye,” this new song clocks in at over 6 minutes. This long-form style of music allows ODESZA to be rmore experimental, drawing out certain segments as long as they need to in order to create a certain mood. The first 90 seconds feel downright cinematic, with soft violins accompanying Arnalds’ gorgeous piano and ethereal singing. However, the powerful drop into the midtempo house rhythm isn’t far behind. The contrast with the delicate introduction makes this all the more satisfying. The rest of the song carries us to epic heights on the back of a commanding bass and synth rhythm.

ODESZA’s new album, The Last Goodbye, is due out next Friday, July 22.
