Donald Glover is one of the most versatile talents in entertainment. Beginning his career as a writer for 30 Rock, the dynamic artist went on to have an important supporting role in NBC’s The Community in addition to several Comedy Central stand-up appearances.
Then, Glover’s rap career as Childish Gambino really started taking off and he began reducing his work with NBC. The rapper, actor, producer, director extraordinaire began creating a new show focused around music; specifically centered around the music scene in Atlanta. Due to their flexibility to work with his busy touring schedule, Donald ultimately teamed with FX to star, write, and executive produce his new show titled Atlanta.
The new show is filmed as a single-camera comedy series about two cousins' story attempting to make it in Atlanta’s flourishing rap scene. It’s just been revealed the half hour show will debut on September 6, and they’ve delivered a new promo video for the series showing his character being constantly interrupted from taking naps in a variety of different situations. This series couldn’t make more sense as Donald’s combined hollywood and first-hand experience in the music industry give him the perfect insight for his new show to be a hit.
Additionally, he recently announced his re-ignited rap presence as Childish Gambino with a new album to be launched via a series of shows in Joshua Tree called PHAORS Earth taking place September 2-4. He also was recently confirmed to be a part of the cast for the forthcoming movie Spider Man: Homecoming. Donald Glover is certainly a busy man and we can’t wait for both new music on the way and his highly anticipated Atlanta show.
