Phantogram Release Triumphant Electro-Rock Album ‘Memory of a Day’

|||, ,

For close to 15 years now, Phantogram has consistently been dominating the alt-indie dance music scene. Hot off the heels of their tour with Kings of Leon, their fifth album Memory of a Day, might be their most rock-focused yet.

What we love about Phantogram is how consistent and authentic their sound is, with the duo always evolving while maintaining their roots. Here this manifests as them incorporating early 2010 indie textures with modern rock instrumentation and polished dance rhythms. The result is nostalgic music that harkens back to their first releases while still feeling distinctly modern. And underneath the production is an emotional through line that feels simultaneously hopeful and wistful.

Here’s what they had to say about their fifth studio album:

“The new album feels like an awakening… We were able to go back to creating music and capturing magic like we did on the first album. The sounds found throughout are also very colorful, which reflects our headspace while recording and is represented in the album artwork.”
