Today, we have the pleasure of premiering Fakear’s first single of 2019, “Nausicaa”. Hailing from France, Fakear was first introduced to the site in 2016 with his single “Ankara”. Since, he has become a TSIS frequenter, and especially perked ears in 2018 with his sophomore album All Glows. With production inspiration coming from the likes of ODESZA and Bonobo, Fakear has always had a talent for positioning the listener in what feels like a space jungle. And, his latest “Nausicaa” incredibly follows-suite.
The song starts with percussion so raw and cultured, that you imagine men wearing elaborate outfits banging wooden mallets against drums in a celebratory ritual. As eastern flutes alongside chanting vocal melodies are introduced, it becomes clear that “Nausicaa” is an otherworldly listening experience that Fakear created with high attention to detail.
“Nausicaa, like the princess of the Odyssey, but especially as the heroine of Miyazaki, this woman, in love with life and each of its forms, mocking the stakes of the human ego to better respect and understand the Earth. This song, I see it as a dance of the night, an invitation to dive into itself to release the deepest creative energy.” – Fakear
Fakear now starts 2019 in a big way, and has us on the edge of our seat waiting for the next release. Enjoy!
