PREMIERE | Hotfire Drops Funky Tech-House Tune “Think Back” from Upcoming EP

|||

Hotfire is the project of Eric Yandall and Sascha Nowlin, specializing in minimal yet bouncy tech and bass house. Tragically losing Yandall last year, Nowlin is paying tribute to his musical partner and best friend with the Think Back EP, a collection of pure, groovy house tunes.

Premiering exclusively on TSIS is the title track, “Think Back,” a laid-back tune bubbling with funky sounds. Driven along by a punchy kick and ticking hi-hats, the track gets an infusion of groove from some unique and wobbly synths. The song has a nice calming energy, helped by the chill vocal sample and minimal yet clean production.

Nowlin shared some thoughts about this special project:

The Think Back EP came to be from a culmination of memories I hold onto making music with my best friend Eric. I tried to think back to the times we spent in the garage making tracks that we could groove to with no real goal, just having fun. Each track on the EP has a bit of a different style, pulling influence from types of tracks we’ve always enjoyed. From the harder bass sounds of ‘Burn The Ground’ to the wiggly wobble style of ‘Think Back’, and the repetitive vocal chop grooves that ‘Voodoo’ provides in between, there’s a little something for everyone in here.

The full EP drops tomorrow via the IN / ROTATION imprint, but listen to “Think Back” exclusively on TSIS in the stream below. Enjoy!
