Last month, we got our first glimpse of the up-and-coming Parisian duo, JAFFNA, when they released “You Got Together,” off their inbound Odyssey album. We were so thrilled with the alluring groove that we brought the fellas back for the premiere of their album’s lead single, “Roots.”
This latest offering comes as an ode to travel and self-discovery. The thunderous tribal percussion immediately cultivates a sense of empowerment, while the slow swell of chords and hollow synths team with mesmeric vocal cuts to foster the boundless potential held within our souls. This track’s inspirational nature is enhanced with the accompanying music video by visual director Pauline Bricout.
This focus track arrives just days ahead of the pair’s album release date, October 22. JAFFNA went on to mention:
The rest of our album is comprised of several deeply personal elements including a voyage of sounds influenced by an Indian classical chant in ‘Byzance’, while the main “icy” synth ostinato in ‘Oslo’ was inspired by the typical snowy winter’s day of Norway during a visit to Stan’s brother.
Sounds like our adventure has only just begun. Stream JAFFNA’s new single, “Roots,” below. Enjoy!
