PREMIERE | Plastic Skin Pair Latin Rhythms with Lo-Fi Beats On Debut Single “No Plans”

||, |,

We’ve got a brand-new group to put you on today: an upbeat lo-fi outfit Plastic Skin, who just released their debut single “No Plans” via Majestic Casual.

Formed in Monterrey Mexico, Plastic Skin is composed of Donovan Ferra of Fallen Roses, a tropical electronic lo-fi group, Eduardo Lopez, and newcomer Jorge Porragas. Ferra and Lopez were already collaborating when they discovered that Porragas, an intern in Lopez’s studio, had the talented vocals they needed to top off their sound.

“No Plans” is a blend of genres and musical influences. There’s warm Latin style guitar over lo-fi beats and effects, paired with Jorge’s silky vocals. We’re also treated to a sonic switch up in the second half of the song when a bossa nova guitar motif takes over. “No Plans” has a distinctly beachy feel, with lyrics that say “come and sink your toes in the sand, hope you made no plans” and seagull samples interwoven throughout the song. It’s an instant mood booster.

This extremely pleasant track is Plastic Skin’s first single ever, and it gives us every indication that this group is destined for great things. You can check it out below. Enjoy!
