The disco kings have returned! We have enjoyed our fair share of Tomode on the site, and for a good reason. The Swedish duo, comprised of Viktor Westerberg and Carl Leanderson, have a special knack for nostalgic, yet somehow modern disco production. We are pleased to premiere their newest track, “Fire On The Hill,” on TSIS.
Tomode nails everything we could possibly want in a good disco track on “Fire On The Hill.” A bubbly, slighty slap-ified bass line, lush yet punchy synth chords, and a crisp beat fill the air with a wave of pure dance joy. Oh, and did we mention the falsetto on this track? Absolutely immaculate. The duo’s storytelling adds another dimension to the track, immersing the listener in a deeply introspective and reflective tale. We can’t wait to see what the duo has in store for their new album, Existential Disco, come this November.
Tomode shared their inspiration for “Fire On The Hill,” commenting:
I was lounging by the pool, when flames started consuming the mountain. Planes streaked the sky, dumping water in a futile attempt to stop it. I had to turn away.
