2020 is shaping up to be a massive year for one of music’s most prolific groups, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The trailblazing band is not only headlining multiple festivals this year, but will also be accompanied by original guitarist, John Frusciante. Frusciante previously departed the band in 2009, but fans around the world are ecstatic to see him rejoining RHCP.
Until today we thought the guitarist’s involvement was limited to the scheduled live shows, but now we’re stoked to hear RHCP drummer, Chad Smith, confirm in an interview that Frusciante is also involved in their highly anticipated forthcoming album. The album will be the band’s first since 2016’s The Getaway, and Frusciante’s first with the band since 2006’s Stadium Arcadium.
Smith said in the interview, “Yes, John is back in the band, and everyone knows that. We’re psyched. The festivals are the only shows booked. For now, we’ll mostly be concentrating on new songs and writing a new record. We’re all real excited to make new music.”
We can’t wait to see what the superstar band has up their sleeves, but one thing is for sure, its great to see the boys back together again.
