There are some amazing female rappers that are just killing it right now. Some that have been on repeat for me this year are Tierra Whack and Little Simz… and now Sampa The Great. When I heard the Australia-via-Zambia artist’s recent single “Final Form” I was blown away. I’m not really sure how she flew under my radar before that because everything she does is fire.
Now she’s announced her anticipated debut album The Return due September 13 via Ninja Tune. Along with the exciting announcement comes yet another next level single titled “OMG.” The new song comes with a exhilarating music video showing off Sampa’s endless swagger and was filmed between her childhood homes of South Africa and Botswana. If there’s something that’s become evident from the first couple singles off The Return, it’s that Sampa not only has straight bars, but the catchy flows to match.
