There are very few things better than a surprise performance at a music festival and Electric Forest's 2016 edition is set to be chock full of 'em. TSIS will once again be setting up its 'Meet & Greet' booth, but also be hosting its first-ever "Secret Set" to be part of the official lineup.
Mark your festival schedule. It will be taking place Friday night from 1am to 3:15am (technically Saturday morning). Madness will ensue in the Forest on The Observatory Stage and be full of back-to-back sets you won't want to miss. To celebrate, we've included some of the most exciting collaborations we've helped curate or witnessed in person over the past few years!
Let's rewind it back to 2012 for one of TSIS' proudest curated moments where we helped assemble a lineup featuring GRiZ, Gramatik and Dom of Big Gigantic, unknowingly creating the enigmatic supergroup now known as Big Grizmatik. They then returned for EF 2013 to be one of the festival's headliners and played a massive set at the Sherwood Court Stage.
Back in 2013, Gramatik was hard at work with the talented musicians who formed Exmag, a new live project they collectively debuted at the Good Life Stage for a late-night TSIS secret set.
One of the most insane back-to-back sets occurred between Skrillex, Snails, Datsik, 12th Planet, Crizzly and Vaski in 2015 at the Good Life Stage. The six acts managed to throw down pure mayhem for 3+ hours. That small white tent felt like a sweaty club by sunrise when the chaos ended.
Colorado band String Cheese Incident has been behind the festival since day one, bringing jam culture into the mix with an impressive six sets every year. They've established a reputation in the forest for their surprises and certainly outdid themselves in 2015 when they brought out bass king Skrillex, but not to DJ. Instead he whipped out a guitar and strummed through two covers of The Doors, taking on classics "Break On Through (To The Other Side)" and "LA Woman."
One of the most unexpected collaborative sets at Electric Forest occurred in 2015 after the official festivities wrapped up for the night. The TSIS team joined Dominic + Jeremy of Big Gigantic and Jason of Cherub as they headed to their RV which was parked by the front of the festival entrance. The crew set up on top of two trailers for the ultimate Ship Fam-spirited rager where thousands gathered for a rare hour-long set.
Don't miss out on the secret fun bound to go down in 2016, including TSIS' secret back-to-back sets. Enjoy!
