SG Lewis Returns with 2 Dazzling New Disco Singles

|||

In May, SG Lewis debuted two new songs and announced his new album was almost done at Lightning In A Bottle. Today we can finally listen to those two songs at our leisure on streaming platforms. While we don’t have more details about his upcoming album, his new releases “Missing You” and “Something About Your Love” strongly hint at a retro-inspired, ’70s and ’80s disco theme.

“Missing You” comes out of the gate fast with a bouncy synth line that creates a warm, welcoming energy. This is a confidence anthem made for the dance floor, one that will have you losing your inhibitions with its infectious bass. On the flip side, “Something About Your Love” is slower and more sentimental. Here Lewis sings about the ecstasy of having feelings for someone. The disco vibes are dialed up on this track, but made contemporary with its lush layers of synth and floaty atmospheric reverb.

Here’s what SG Lewis had to say about his releases:

Conceptually, [“Missing You”] felt like the perfect introduction. It’s a story about temptation and dwindling fear. Your eyes are wandering…It’s no secret I’m a massive Daft Punk fan. [“Something About Your Love” is] the closest thing I’ve ever made to a tribute to them. I was listening to Discovery a lot, and there’s a specific technique to it. I chopped up the sample of these seventies keys and drums. It came together easily. Lyrically, It’s a pure confession of admiration for someone. It’s the perfect contrast to “Missing You.”

You can check out both of these treats from SG Lewis below. Enjoy!
