Japanese producer SHIMA has become renowned for not only her incredible full-bodied soundscapes, but her exceptional work blending traditional Japanese sounds with modern electronic styles. Her new single “1807” shows off that impeccable blending skills perfectly, out now via TOKiMONSTA’s Young Art Records.
“1807” is a tranquil and hypnotizing song that starts simply enough with an entrancing drum beat and chanting vocals before building to a full electric montage. SHIMA sampled a Japanese folk song for the track, furthering her reputation for bringing her worlds together.
In the music scene since she was a teenager, SHIMA is clearly knowledgeable and experienced musician who, despite moving stateside, clearly stays connected to her roots. And that connection is on full display here.
