In the latest fusion of technology, music, and art, all-virtual label Spirit Bomb dropped an EP/NFT combo last week. Spirit Bomb 001 is a four-track record that pairs Mr. Carmack, Sweater Beats, Salva, Huxley Anne, and Tsuruda with virtual artists. Each song on the heavy-hitting compilation was also accompanied by an NFT auction.
Spirit Bomb 001 kicks off with Huxley Anne & Tsuruda’s collab with DET, “We Heavy,” a wubby dub song with thundering percussion. Sandwiched in the middle of the album are two emotional yet exhilarating breakbeat tracks, Salva and IZZI’s “Hurt You” and Sweater Beats and DET’s “Future Eyes.” Last but definitely not least is Mr. Carmack’s heater with LV titled “Run It,” a glitchy and crunchy tune with a distorted tempo.
While we’re still grappling with the concept of virtual artists, it’s cool to see these types of creative projects teaming with producers that we already know and love. Not only is this stuff totally out-of-the-box, but the music itself as actually really dope.
You can listen to the EP below. Enjoy!
