Starrah might not yet be a name everyone's familiar with, but there's a good chance you've heard her songwriting if you've been listening to hip-hop the last three years. On top of co-writing Travis Scott's 2016 album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, the LA songwriter has credits on Cashmere Cat's "Trust Nobody," multiple songs on the new Calvin Harris album, and many more.
While we have heard her vocals before on tracks like "Pick up the Phone" and "Throw Myself a Party," she is now stepping out in the spotlight as a solo artist with just a few singles out. Her latest track that premiered on Zane Lowe today is a collaboration with Diplo, which follows their work together on the latest Major Lazer EP.. "Imperfections" shows off her talented use of auto-tune that perfectly accentuates her singing style, while Diplo provides a hip-hop beat with trap snares for her to shine over. Her lyrics are relatable and catchy as always, making this one of the best feel-good tracks of the summer.
A few months ago, Diplo announced that he is working on a collaborative EP with Starrah and if this is the bar they're setting for that project, it's going to be incredible. Enjoy!
