$uicideBoy$ have been one of the most successful and interesting stories in the world of SoundCloud rappers. Over the past few years, the duo from New Orleans have amassed an insane cult following that has resulted in millions upon millions of streams across all platforms, collaborations with icons like Juicy J, and a completely sold out tour.
Today, $uicideBoy$ reach a major milestone in their career with the drop of their highly anticipated debut album, I Want To Die In New Orleans. Although this is not the duo’s first major body of work to be released, it certainly is their most cohesive, and perhaps their most impressive.
The first thing to note about this project is the production. $uicideBoy$ have always been a step ahead of the game when it comes to their beats (they’ve produced multiple mixtapes for Juicy J), but what they have here on I Want To Die In New Orleans is completely next level. It’s some of the darkest yet cleanest beats we’ve heard so far from the boys, and that says a lot, considering their catalog already.
Many rappers who rose to fame via SoundCloud are known for their lack of lyricism and rhyming skill in general, and that’s where $uicideBoy$ set themselves apart from the crowd. Their bars are nothing to shy away from. It’s not just drugs and girls with $uicideBoy$, there’s some real emotion weaved into their complex, unique flows.
If this is your first introduction to $uicideBoy$, it’s a great place to start. If not, you already know what’s good.
