Kendrick Lamar’s new album DAMN. has been on repeat for us since it dropped, and “LOVE.” is one of the highlights off the album we just can’t get enough of. Luckily one of our favorite artists to recreate tracks, The Code, have put their magic touch on this incredible song off the album.
We’ve heard The Code take on tracks like Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy”, Lana Del Rey’s “Brooklyn Baby” in addition to some amazing originals. Now they take their left-field approach to remixing / covering tracks making for an incredibly fresh rendition of “LOVE.” They enlist the vocal talents of Kaleem Taylor to hit the Zacari’s falsetto notes on the original while entirely re-imagining the instrumental from the ground up. They pair mellow piano melodies with experimental sound design of glitchy synths and skittering percussion as the track takes many turns keeping you on your toes. Enjoy!
